Megah Port is new Labuan operator

LABUAN: Labuan Port Authority (LPA) announced the appointment of Megah Port Management Sdn Bhd as the new operator of Labuan Liberty Port for a six-year term, thus ending the services of Labuan Liberty Port Management Sdn Bhd (LLPM) which was the operator the past 22 years (1998).LPA, in a notice issued on Feb 13 to the shipping community and others, said the new operator would commence April 1.

The Labuan Port Authority has appointed Megah Port Management Sdn Bhd to manage and operate port activities at Liberty Wharf and its premises. LPA remains the regulatory body of the Liberty Wharf and the port areas within its limit.The Labuan Liberty Port berths have a total length of 3,556 metres and alongside depths of 4.6 to 10 metres, and could accommodate vessels of 16,000 deadweight tonnage.It was reported on Jan 22 that Straits Inter Logistics Bhd (SIL) had received a Letter of Award from BPA to operate and manage Labuan Terminal for six years.
